I guess I am more sensitive to it because one of the marriages breaking up is a close relative. Also, I watched these kids grow up and went to their weddings. i hoped for better things for them.

The Young Witness Generation

I live on a fault line and they have been expecting the big one for years. A few years back they had everyone (jw and others) carrying food and water in their cars in the trunk. Then it just kinda faded away when nothing happened.
I have heard from jw relatives that they are encouraging the same for natural disasters now. It seems like they hint about persecution too, just to keep them on their toes.

I have seen in the last few months five young marriages break up where I live. They were all married less than two years. Is this just a local thing or are others seeing it in their neck of the woods? Divorce was much more rare in the past with jws. I saw a few, but not like today.
I feel the young ones are forced to marry young and with little experience, mostly because of the crazy restrictions on dating and the harsh consequences for experimentation with sex or just kissing, for heaven's sake. How do you get to know someone with a chaperone always around? It was a rule in my old cong. that a young couple could not even sit together at meetings unless they were engaged. What exactly did they think they were going to do at the hall?
So, do others see young marriages collapsing around them? What do you think is the cause of this?

When you say you were "possessed", exactly what does that mean? How did you feel? Were you still in control and lucid or were you taken over by spirits and not of your own mind?

I agree they want more power, but it is the things that power brings to them that they seek. They seek the almost worshipful attitude of the ones under them. They seek the feeling that they are next to God and Christ in power and importance. After all, are they not supposed to rule over the earth?
They may take a vow of poverty, but the things that money can buy are all supplied for them in abundance. They receive nice apartments with beautiful views that most of us could not afford. They receive trips around the world that once again most of us will never have the pleasure of. Their every need is supplied and richly. This makes their vow of poverty a farce. There is little, if any difference between them and the clergy class they say they are nothing like.
By the way, I was going to rewatch The Matrix movies. I watched the first. Isn't there 2 more? The Matrix Reloaded, as you mention and what is the third one called?

Time and unforeseen occurance

the one yesterday was because of a tragic accident.
so during the week since the accident, i have heard the "time and unforeseen occurrance" scripture quoted countless times in conversations i have had with jw's about the situation.

Help me, this new light confuses me....
by dawg inok, so if they change the rules and allow everyone who feels the spirit to partake of the memorial then that means that there may be no limit on how many are sealed.... am i right?
if thats' true then ther's no longer a 144k?

They have changed the teaching that the cutting off date for being chosen as an annointed was 1935. I think there will still be some stigma attached to anyone who begins partaking though. Nothing official, just the usual talk. As far as dropping the literal number of 144,000, they have not officially done that yet. I believe they will soon as the numbers will continue to go up for the annointed. Or maybe they just will quit counting them.
As far as the annointed being part of the faithful and discreet slave, they already covered their backsides on that. They came out in the article where they dropped 1935 and said they were officially nothing special. They certainly cannot question the governing body as we saw in the experience of Franz and others. They really just set the GB up even more like the pope. Their current understanding of the scriptures is infallible.
When they changed the generation teaching, it had a big effect on me too. I was asured by the fact that the generation that saw 1914 would see the end. The new explanation was absurd. It was one of the things that got the ball rolling for me too. Nothing is too strange in the watchtower world anymore.
It is certain to go downhill with the cult copy of the watchtower coming out.
